Our enthusiasm for DIY projects involving Ikea products led us to explore a bit more the versatility of the Ikea Lack Table. There’s actually a whole series entitled like that and it includes a TV unit, coffee table, side table and some wall shelves. Today we’ll only focus on the tables, trying to find ways to integrate them into ingenious projects. Let’s start with a simple transformation. For this project you can use either a Lack or a Hemnes table which are both Ikea coffee tables. Get some wooden boards and cut them to size so you can make a tabletop. Stain them and measure the center of the table so you know where to place the first board. Clamp each end down and then add the others the same way. Glue and screw all the boards, turn the table upside down and put something heavy on the middle. Let it sit overnight, add more screws in the center of each board but on the underside so you don’t see them.
Similarly, the Setis media cabinet is a combination of furniture and sound. It features dual stereo speakers with bluetooth connection and a multi-sync option. The console itself is made of white particleboard and has a glass divider for the lower shelf. In the case of the 360 TV cabinet by Ronda Design, the interesting addition is the stainless steel swivel top which allows it to expand its surface and to maximize its storage and display capabilities. The main unit has a matt lacquered finish and integrates two large drawers. The Factory cabinet is a bit more traditional but can easily be included in the category of modern furniture. It has a low design and features a combination of wood and metal. The frame is wooden and the base is metallic.
Not happy with the way your old vanity stool looks now? How about a makeover. You can rejuvenate its design with some new upholstery or paint and you can even change the style completely. So remove the cushion top from the base and then use faux fur to wrap the stool. After you’ve covered the top, you can spray paint the base using your favorite color. Put the stool back together and you’re done.
