While the perfect rattan chair might jump out at you, it might not. So don’t limit yourself! Rattan chairs aren’t the only pieces of rattan furniture. There are consoles, bar carts, ottomans and many other pieces. Just keep looking until you find one that will fit your living room perfectly. Are you loving the airy rattan style but not really the color? One word: paint. Just because it’s rattan doesn’t mean it’s untouchable. So grab a can of spray paint in that bright shade you’ve been eyeing and go to work. Frugal tip, this is also a great way to bring an old inherited piece of rattan furniture to life in a modern living room like yours.
Ikea Lack coffee tables are extremely versatile and they can even change function if you desire such a project. For example, you can turn such a table into a comfortable tufted ottoman. You might have to cut the legs a bit to make them shorter. Then use foam and fabric to make the cozy seat cushion and attach it to the table. There’s more than one way to give this coffee table a new look. So how about adding some mid-century charm to the mix? For this project you only need to use the top of the Lack table. You also need to find some tapered legs to use with it. So basically install the legs and make sure they’re symmetrical and stable.
Not happy with the way your old vanity stool looks now? How about a makeover. You can rejuvenate its design with some new upholstery or paint and you can even change the style completely. So remove the cushion top from the base and then use faux fur to wrap the stool. After you’ve covered the top, you can spray paint the base using your favorite color. Put the stool back together and you’re done.
